BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES
WELD COUNTY, COLORADO

The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of
Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in
the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, August 8, 2007, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were
present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner David E. Long, Chair
Commissioner William H. Jerke, Pro-Tem
Commissioner William F. Garcia
Commissioner Robert D. Masden
Commissioner Douglas Rademacher
Also present:
County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker
Acting Clerk to the Board, Elizabeth Strong
Director of Finance and Administration, Donald D. Warden
MINUTES: Commissioner Rademacher moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services
meeting of August 6, 2007, as printed. Commissioner Masden seconded the motion, and it carried
unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
CONSIDER FISCAL YEAR 2006-2007 ANNUAL REPORT FROM FAMILY PRESERVATION PROGRAM
COMMISSION AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN: Judy Griego, Director of Social Services, stated the
report is an annual requirement of the Colorado Department of Human Services, and it consists of a
description of programs and services funded through Core Services funding and system outcomes.
Commissioner Garcia moved to approve said report and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by
Commissioner Masden, the motion carried unanimously.
CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN-
AIMS COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Ms. Griego stated the term of the agreement is June 1, 2007, through
May 31, 2008, and the source of funding is Child Welfare Block funding. She stated Aims Community
College will provide courses for a maximum of 50 Weld County Certified Foster Parents,who must obtain
training for certification, and the Department will pay the tuition rate of$81.50 per credit hour,with the total
reimbursement not to exceed $12,000.00, and the Department will provide reimbursement for educational
materials, not to exceed $2,000.00. Commissioner Rademacher questioned how the Department will
proceed if there are more than 50 Weld County Certified Foster Parents in need of these classes.
Responding to Commissioner Rademacher, Ms. Griego explained in the event additional funding is

required, she will need to come before the Board with an amendment to the agreement. She stated in
the past the Department has spent less than half of the amount presently requested;therefore, it is unlikely
additional funding will be required for the training. Commissioner Rademacher moved to approve said
agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Garcia, the motion carried
unanimously.
Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted
by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
There being no further business, this meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
