I have sent you previous examples of homes that had sold in the past year in my neighboring 2-block area. I have since been told that I need to provide examples from year 2005, and first quarter of 2006. (6 examples are attached.) My old taxes: $369,000.00 NOW: $629,279.00!!!! I would like to point out several facts. I am the original owner of the said property. This is a ranch home with 1600 SF on the main level. 1280 SF finished basement. There are a total of 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths. There have been no improvements, nor additions made in the entire history of this home. In trying to obtain a professional appraisal of my home, I have found it virtually impossible because of declining and like-kind values. My direct neighbors on either side of me have twice size of finished home, and you determined their value at least$150K less than mine! I will not let this issue rest because of the unjust and unfair nature of this. I am of retirement age,and hope to live in my home the entirety of my days. This increase adds$300 per month($525.00 total per month tax) Because of the impact this makes on my fixed income-I would not know the future of the ability to remain in the home I built for my future. You will have to adjust this figure to be more in line with the properties I have attached. I expect to hear from you in the near future with resolve,as this is unacceptable to me.
