HomeMy WebLinkAbout810801.tiff • MINUTES WELD COUNTY COUNCIL February 5, 1981 Tape 1980-81/93, 81/94 • The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County Home Rule Charter at 915 Tenth Street, Greeley, Colorado, February 5, 1981, at 1:30 p.m. ROLL CALL The followinc members were present in person: Patricia Anderson, Ralph Waldo, Jr. , De Ann Emerson, Howard Foster, Robert Martin, Sr. Also present were Commissioners June Steinmark and John Martin, three members of the press, and council secretary Susan Elton. APPROVAL OF MINUTES De Ann Emerson made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of January 2, 1981. Howard Foster seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. ADDITIONS .TO AGENDA Under New Business, correction: payment made to Robert Ray, attorney for county council , not Robert Miller. Discussion of Road and Bridge Committee with commissioners. Executive session. REPORTS Council President Pat Anderson suggested in the future that each council member bring some type of report on one of their assigned areas. The council president felt that doing this would help council members keep up on what is happening in the county. Pat Anderson gave a brief report on the Elected Official 's meeting that she attended January 12, 1981. Pat Anderson also gave a voluntary report which she completed on roads and bridges, accompanied with photographs. This report was read to the council and then given to Comnistioner Martin, who in turn will give to Commissioner Steinmark. CORRESPONDENCE The correspondence file was passed for each member to inspect. NEW BUSINESS Bob Martin made a motion, seconded by Howard Foster that council approve payment of outstanding bills: mileage of $23.08 to Pat Anderson, $26.00 to Howard Foster; sub poena, $30.00, to Robert Ray; Greeley Tribune subscription renewal for one year, $51.00. Motion passed unanimously. Pat Anderson read a resolution honoring Ralph Waldo as council president for 1980. Bob Martin made a motion to adopt the resolution, seconded by Howard Foster. Motion passed unanimously. A discussion with the commissioners was held concerning the Road and Bridge Committee. Each council member was given an assigned geo- graphical area in which he/she is to try to find persons interested in being on this committee and applying at the commissioners' office by February 20, 1981. EXECUTIVE SESSION (Commissioner's Steinmark & Martin no longer in attendance) The meeting reconvened after the executive session. Council voted to destroy report #4, investigative report on former Communications Direc- tor C. E. "Bud" Reynolds during the closed session. / /r ,4 /,�� 810801 - ?/71 (/ (6 MINUTES, County Council Page 2 February 5, 1981 Two other investigative reports, #5 and #1, will remain confidential and will be placed in the council office files. De Ann Emerson requested that the council secretary check with the commissioners regarding the permits for agricultural building that were being sold, a topic that was discussed with the commissioners at a work session on December 12, 1980. Council would like feedback on this at their March meeting. Councilwoman Emerson also requested that the council receive copies • of the minutes of all work sessions held by the commissioners, department heads, and elected officials. Councilman Howard Foster requested, if possible, payroll information for the county. He would like to know the monthly salaries paid for each position in the county. Bob Martin said that the council still opposes, unanimously, the planned extension of Weld 66 near Windsor. He feels this project is "foolhardy" when the county doesn't have the money to fix the roads we have. ADJOURNMENT There was no further business. Upon motion made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned. The time of adjournment was 2:30 p.m. , February 5, 1981.
