Chairman Martin
Board of County Commissioners
P.O. Box 758
Greeley, Colorado 80631
Dear Chairman Martin:
The City Council, on October 5, 1982, formally opposed the formation of
an ambulance service special taxing district in southern Weld County.
Specifically the Brighton City Council action included the following:
(1) Opposing formation and inclusion of rep sent city limit boundaries
in an ambulance service taxing district.
(2) Opposing formation and inclusion of any future properties that
may be annexed into the City of Brighton.
(3) Opposing formation and inclusion of the Brighton area Fire
Protection District boundaries in an ambulance service taxing
district.
Platte Valley Ambulance and the City of Brighton jointly fund the Platte
Valley Ambulance service in Brighton and in the rural area north to Fort
Lupton and even areas east of Fort Lupton. A special taxing district and
ambulance service will constitute a double taxation and a duplication of
ambulance services in this area; since Platte Valley has, since 1971, served
this general territory.
The City of Brighton essentially opposes including present and future
City boundaries in a taxing district and opposes the inclusion of the
Brighton area.Fire Protection District in any taxing district for ambulance
service.
Yours truly,
eta, 9lett.lezd

Weld County Board of Commissioners
We are opposed to a mill levy tax to help support the Flight
for Life. We believe the service should he self supporting by the
use of fees paid by those who use the service.
The ownership of property does not necessarily mean the
ability to pay taxes, as you all well know.
If a tax is absolutely needed to support this service, we favor
an income tax or a sales tax.
The mill levy tax approach is doubly unfair to farmers as they
must pay on their buildings, land, equipment and livestock.
Sincerely,
Mr. & Mrs. A. L. Andersen, Jr.
