We have serious concerns about the proposed uranium mining project in northern Colorado
near Nunn. As a farming family with wells we are concerned about the impacts of this
mining operation. Not only could it affect our wells but the land value and our health as
well as our children and grandchildren. We ask that you do everything in your power to
stop this project.
Thank you,

Dear Commissioners,
I am a constituent of Weld County Government and need your help.
As a Registered Nurse with more than 40 years of experience in
healthcare, I am MOST concerned about the rumors that uranium
mining (in any form) will be allowed in Northern Weld County.
It is understandable that monies can be brought into our County
through uranium mining. However, it has been communicated by
people in other states that the health of people in the environment
following the mining of uranium markedly deteriorated. This is of GRAVE
concern not only for my family, but for all the families who live on
the prairie in Weld County. And it is my understanding that these
mines will be near farms and acreages that house many families.
As you well know, children can be seriously hurt by the contamination
of water and air, and we have many children in the area.
PLEASE HELP US AND DO NOT ALLOW URANIUM MINING IN WELD
COUNTY! We are counting on you!
P.S. I know you all are very busy, but I sure would appreciate
some response. Thank you.

We need your help and your voice.
My family and I live in Briggsdale which is in the northeast area of Weld County. I want
to let you know about a serious situation in Weld and Laramie Counties which will affect
all of Colorado and its economy. It was brought to my family's attention just last week
that there are several companies trying to get permission to do Uranium Mining in the Nunn
and Briggsdale areas of Weld County.
Powertech Uranium Corporation is the name of one of the companies.
This affects all of Colorado because the mining process goes through the Laramie-Fox Hills
Aquifer which covers most of the Denver Basin, approximately 7, 000 square miles along the
Front Range from Wyoming to Colorado Springs and east to Limon. If any of the Uranium
gets into the water then millions of people, livestock and crops will be seriously
affected even destroyed along with the economy.
Please go to the following website to get more information, www.nunnglow.com. There will
be a town meeting in Fort Collins on Tuesday September 25th at 7:00 pm at the Lincoln
Center.
I hope that you will see this as a serious situation that needs to be addressed now and
stopped! Please call me or e-mail me if you have any questions for me. I am just
learning about all of this but will help in anyway. One of the sites that Powertech wants
to mine is less than a mile from my home in a community with many families, crops and
livestock. . We need your support and voice to get the word out to stop this Uranium
mining. Please Help Us.
Sincerely,
Mary and Randy James, 1 PC/8 (y

Subject: Uranium Mine???
Hello,
I am writing you about the plan for a Uranium Mine in Weld County. I have been suffering
from heavy metal poisoning for 4 years now. I am all too familiar with the consequences
of environmental pollution on the mind, body, and spirit. Nothing is worth the risk of
potentially poisoning this states citizens. It is putting the whole state people, the
water supply, animals, and environment at risk for the monetary profit of a few. I went
from graduating Cum Laude from Colorado State University in Biology with a minor in
Neuroanatomy to not being able to even work 20 hours a week at a restaurant do to heavy
metal poisoning. The risk of damaging even one life is not worth it. There is no truly
safe and fool proof way to Uranium mine. There is bound to be a spill, leak or disaster.
Please just take a look at the track record. Why would you risk polluting the whole area
and ruining its chance for other economic gains in the future. For example I would love
to live west of Louisville, but there is no way in hell I would move there do to Rocky
Flats. That is a beautiful area that has been tainted by unclean industry. Colorado has
already been polluted enough with its mining history. Please reconsider adding to the
problem. I strongly disagree with Uranium mining anywhere in Colorado. Thank you for your
time. Please feel free to use this letter in any way that you see fit. Julie Green

Dear Respective Representatives,
I have serious concerns about the proposed Uranium mining projects in Northern CO near
Nunn. It is simply NOT worth the risk that is posed on human lives, the environment, and
our existing resources such as our water supplies. We cannot continue to exploit the
environment and people for the sake of enriching corporate gain. Alternative ways in life
are possible. Please understand that it is not only our world.
As my representatives, I urge you all to put a stop to this now. No uranium mines are
needed in Colorado.
Regards,
Saira Hamid
