HomeMy WebLinkAbout20072100.tiff RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS MINUTES BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES WELD COUNTY, COLORADO JULY 23, 2007 TAPE #2007-21 The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, July 23, 2007, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Acting Chair Pro-Tem and on roll call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof: Commissioner David E. Long, Chair- EXCUSED Commissioner William H. Jerke, Pro-Tem - EXCUSED Commissioner Robert D. Masden, Acting Chair Pro-Tem Commissioner William F. Garcia Commissioner Douglas Rademacher Also present: County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker Acting Clerk to the Board, Jennifer VanEgdom Director of Finance and Administration, Donald D. Warden ELECTION OF ACTING CHAIR PRO-TEM FOR JULY 23,2007: Commissioner Rademacher nominated Robert D. Masden as the Acting Chair Pro-Tem for the meeting of July 23, 2007. The nomination was seconded by Commissioner Garcia. Commissioner Masden was unanimously elected as Acting Chair Pro-Tem, and began Chairing the meeting. MINUTES: Commissioner Rademacher moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting of July 18, 2007, as printed. Commissioner Garcia seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for approval by the Board in the amount of $10,948.29. Commissioner Garcia moved to approve the warrants as presented by Mr.Warden. Commissioner Rademacher seconded the motion,which carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES FOR HOME BASED PARENTING COACH PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - LUTHERAN FAMILY SERVICES OF COLORADO: Judy Griego, Director, Department of Social Services,stated the term of the agreement is June 1,2007,through May 31,2008,and Lutheran Family Services will be reimbursed at a rate of$85.00 for the treatment package for the Parent Coach Program, and at an hourly rate of $60.00 for court testimony. She stated Lutheran Family Services will provide home-based services that teach and model 2007-2100 BC0016 O no%9 parenting techniques and household management,and will prevent,reduce,or eliminate at-risk behaviors. Commissioner Garcia moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Rademacher, the motion carried unanimously. CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES FOR OPTION B HOME BASED INTENSIVE FAMILY INTERVENTION AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN-LUTHERAN FAMILY SERVICES OF COLORADO: Ms.Griego stated the term of the agreement is June 1,2007,through May 31,2008. She stated the Home Based Intensive Family Intervention improves individual and family functioning as it builds upon primary family connections, helps improve parenting abilities,identifies parental strengths,and links families to resources and sources of support. She further stated Lutheran Family Services will be reimbursed at a rate of$95.00 for the treatment package,and an hourly rate of$60.00 for court testimony, and the source of funding is Core Services. Commissioner Garcia moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Rademacher, the motion carried unanimously. CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ANGER MANAGEMENT SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN-INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP THERAPY SERVICES: Ms.Griego stated the term of the agreement is June 1,2007,through May 31,2008,and the source of funding is Child Welfare Administration. She stated Individual and Group Therapy will provide domestic violence and anger management services for families and juveniles involved in the child welfare system,and will be reimbursed according to a fee schedule. Commissioner Garcia moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Rademacher,the motion carried unanimously. CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR ASSESSMENTS, MONITORED SOBRIETY SERVICES, AND TREATMENT AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - ARAPAHOE HOUSE, INC.: Ms. Griego stated Arapahoe House will provide assessments,monitored sobriety services,and treatment primarily for families residing in the southern portion of the County. She stated the term of the agreement is June 1, 2007, through May 31, 2008, and the source of funding is Core Services. Commissioner Rademacher moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Garcia, the motion carried unanimously. CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN -WESTERN SLOPE PSYCH-HEALTH: Ms. Griego stated the term of the agreement is June 1, 2007, through May 31, 2008, and the source of funding is Core Services. She stated Western Slope Psych-Health will provide psychological services, including assessment and treatment, to children and families involved in the child welfare system. She further stated the Department will reimburse the provider according to the fee schedule provided in the agreement. Commissioner Garcia moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Rademacher, the motion carried unanimously. CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR SEX ABUSE INTERVENTION PROGRAM SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - SAVIO HOUSE: Ms. Griego stated the term of the agreement is June 1,2007,through May 31,2008,and the source of funding is Core Services. She stated Savio House will provide sex abuse prevention services,including working with youth,ages 14 to 21,who have problem sexual behaviors in their families. She stated the services will work to stop sexual abuse behavior and prevent its recurrence through monitoring,education,and therapeutic intervention. She further stated Savio House will be reimbursed an amount of$1,833.00 per month. Seconded by Commissioner Garcia, the motion carried unanimously. CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES FOR ANGER MANAGEMENT SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN-NELSON,WOLF,AND ASSOCIATES,P.C.: Ms.Griego stated the term of the agreement is June 1,2007,through May 31,2008,and the source of funding is Child Welfare Administration. She stated Nelson,Wolf,and Associates will provide anger management services with adolescents in individual, group, and family treatment. She further stated the Department will reimburse the provider an amount not to exceed$2,500.00,according to the fee schedule provided in the agreement. Commissioner Garcia moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Rademacher, the motion carried unanimously. Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
