BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES
WELD COUNTY, COLORADO
FEBRUARY 28, 2007

The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of
Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in
the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, February 28, 2007, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were
present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner David E. Long, Chair
Commissioner William H. Jerke, Pro-Tem
Commissioner William F. Garcia
Commissioner Robert D. Masden - EXCUSED
Commissioner Douglas Rademacher
Also present:
County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker
Acting Clerk to the Board, Jenny Luna
Director of Finance and Administration, Donald D. Warden
MINUTES: Commissioner Rademacher moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services
meeting of February 26, 2007, as printed. Commissioner Jerke seconded the motion, and it carried
unanimously.
WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for approval
by the Board in the amount of $105,739.21. Commissioner Jerke moved to approve the warrants as
presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner Garcia seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
CONSIDER GENERAL ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN-
WELD COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF OPTOMETRISTS AND OPHTHALMOLOGISTS: Judy Griego,
Director of Social Services, stated the term of the agreement is calendar year 2007, and the source of
funding is the Weld County General Fund. She stated the Association will provide services for clients who
are not eligible for Medicaid, and the client is required to provide a co-pay. She further stated the
Association will be reimbursed an amount not to exceed $22,000.00. Commissioner Jerke moved to
approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Garcia,the motion
carried unanimously.

CONSIDER GENERAL ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN-
WELD COUNTY DENTAL SOCIETY: Ms.Griego stated the term of the agreement is calendar year 2007,
and the source of funding is the Weld County General Fund. She stated Weld County Dental Society will
provide services to clients who are not eligible for Medicaid, and the client is required to provide a ten
percent co-pay. She further stated the contractor will be reimbursed an amount not to exceed$17,000.00.
In response to Commissioner Rademacher, Ms. Griego stated she does not have the exact number of
clients who utilized these services last year;however most of the funds designated last year were utilized.
Responding to Commissioner Jerke, Ms. Griego stated many of the dental clinics provide some of the
services on a pro-bono basis, and extensive dental work may be done on a sliding fee scale. She further
stated she will provide exact expenditures and the number of clients who utilize these services in an
upcoming work session. Commissioner Rademacher moved to approve said agreement and authorize
the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Garcia, the motion carried unanimously.
CONSIDER COLORADO WORKS PROGRAM AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR
TO SIGN-THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SERVING GREELEYAND WELD COUNTY: Ms. Griego
stated the term of the agreement is calendar year 2007, and the source of funding is Colorado Works or
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). She stated The Community Foundation, through
Leanna's Closet, will provide job interview and employment clothing for eligible Colorado Works clients.
She further stated a maximum reimbursement level of$1,500.00 will be provided. Commissioner Jerke
moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Garcia,
the motion carried unanimously.
Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by
the Acting Clerk to the Board.
There being no further business, this meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
