BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES
WELD COUNTY, COLORADO
NOVEMBER 26, 2007
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of
Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in
the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, November 26, 2007, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were
present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner David E. Long, Chair
Commissioner William H. Jerke, Pro-Tem
Commissioner William F. Garcia
Commissioner Robert D. Masden
Commissioner Douglas Rademacher
Also present:
Assistant County Attorney, Cyndy Giauque
Acting Clerk to the Board, Elizabeth Strong
Controller, Barb Connolly
MINUTES: Commissioner Masden moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting
of November 21,2007, as printed. Commissioner Jerke seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.
WARRANTS: Ms. Connolly stated there are no warrants to present for approval.
NEW BUSINESS:
CONSIDER MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR PROMOTING RESPONSIBLE FATHERHOOD
PROJECT AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - NEW HORIZONS CHURCH: Judy Griego, Director of
Social Services, stated the Memorandum of Understanding period is December 1, 2007, through
November 30, 2008, and it outlines the partnership between the Department and New Horizons Church
for the Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Project. Ms. Griego explained New Horizons Church will
promote activities and services for twenty fathers to increase the amount and quality of time spent with
their families, positive employment outcomes, sobriety support, and increasing child support if necessary.
She stated New Horizons Church will train and support twenty mentors for the Program. Ms. Griego stated
the Department will reimburse New Horizons Church an amount not to exceed $20,160.00 in Community
Investment funds from the Colorado Works or the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Programs. Commissioner Garcia moved to approve said memorandum and authorize the Chair to sign.
Seconded by Commissioner Jerke, the motion carried unanimously.
Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted
by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
