Dear Michael and Melanie Scott:
Your application for a Site Specific Development Plan and Use by Special Review Permit#1610
for a Home Business (manufacturing of surveying supplies and wholesale delivery to retailers) in
the A (Agricultural) Zone District has been recommended unfavorably to the Board of County
Commissioners by the Planning Commission. The legal description of the property involved is
shown as Lot 13, Block 17, Camfield Townsite; being part of the NE1/4 of Section 18, Township
7 North, Range 64 West of the 6th P.M., Weld County, Colorado.
If you wish to be heard by the Board of County Commissioners, it will be necessary for you to
indicate your request by signing the bottom of this letter and returning it to this office. Regular
hearing procedures will then be followed.
In order to proceed as quickly as possible, we must receive your reply by July 23, 2007. If we are
not in receipt of your request by that date, the matter will be considered closed.

Esther,
Good Afternoon. Could you please keep me in the loop on the special use permit that
Michael and Melanie Scott have applied for? I am an affected neighbor (39659 County
Road 51) and do not support the special use permit. However, I do not want to make a big
fuss over it or have my name mentioned as they have already made threatening comments
to another neighbor because they would not write a letter of support. Personally, I
believe that if they would like to run this business, then they need to find a place that is
not zoned "Agricultural" to operate. Our family moved out there to get away from the
noise, not to live near an "industrial park".

We are writing to express our concern about the Scott's home business. When we received our letter
from the county planning board about the Scott's home business we visited with Melanie and Michael
about their plans for their business. We were told this was just a formality to allow them to run their
business as they had been. We have seen some benefits from the Scott's family business. They provide
jobs for 4 people in our community, they provide neighbors with the wood steaks that they produce, and
with the business at home Melanie has been able to be the Camfield Water User's Association
President. We are in support of the business how it is currently operating.
That said, we would like to voice a few concerns. Through the hearing proceeding that we were able
to access on-line we learned that the Scott's home business would not be staying the same size it
currently is. There are plans to expand the existing shop and plans to build a new shop. With these
additions there is a concern. Additionally, we are concerned with the amount of traffic, noise, and
business activities that naturally come with increased business. Since the last court proceeding we have
noticed a significant increase in semi-truck traffic on the county roads to the Scott's home business. The
semi-trucks park on the county access road and off load the wood into the Scott's storage area.
We have noticed the benefits from the Scott's home business; however we are concerned about the
increase in buildings, traffic, and noise that comes with increasing the size of the business in our
residential area.
