HomeMy WebLinkAbout20073652 RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE THREE PURCHASE OF SERVICES AGREEMENTS FOR OPERATIONAL EXPENSES FOR RURAL SENIOR CENTERS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with three Purchase of Services Agreements for Operational Expenses for Rural Senior Centers between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging, and the various Senior Centers, as follows, commencing November 1, 2007, and ending June 30, 2008, with further terms and conditions being as stated in said agreements, and Pierce Senior Center- $500 Hill N Park Senior Center- $500 Lochbuie Senior Center- $500 WHEREAS,after review,the Board deems it advisable to approve said agreements,copies of which are attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the three Purchase of Services Agreements for Operational Expenses for Rural Senior Centers between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging, and the various Senior Centers as listed above be, and hereby are, approved. Speckman, Executive Director, Human Services SUBJECT: Purchase of Services Agreements between the Division of Human Services' Area Agency on Aging and Three (3) Rural Senior Centers Enclosed for Board approval are Purchase of Services Agreements with three (3) rural Senior Centers Pierce, Hill N Park, and Lochbuie. Each of these centers faces financial hardship in terms of keeping their centers open. The centers will utilize the grants to help pay for heat, lights, telephone, supplies, water, and other operational expenses. The following grants are to be awarded: *Pierce Senior Center- $500 *Hill N Park Senior Center- $500 *Lochbuie Senior Center - $500 If you have any questions, please contact Eva Jewell, Director of the Weld County Area Agency on Aging at extension 3331. 9 I :Z d G` !J:J 2007-3652 Purchase of Services Agreement THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 1st day of November, 2007 by and between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Weld County Division of Human Services' Area Agency on Aging, hereinafter referred to as "AAA" and the Pierce Senior Citizen Program hereinafter referred to as "Pierce Seniors." WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, "AAA"develops and administers the Area Plan for a comprehensive and coordinated system of services, and WHEREAS, "AAA" considers small rural senior centers a vital link in the county's system of services to older adults, and WHEREAS, "Pierce Seniors" is a senior center providing recreational, nutritional, and educational opportunities for senior citizens; NOW THEREFORE, it is mutually agreed: 1. The"AAA" hereby agrees to award grant monies(under the Older Americans Act) in the sum of$500 to"Pierce Seniors." 2. "Pierce Seniors" agree to expend the grant monies to pay for operating expenses for the center to include: electricity, gas,telephone, insurance, office supplies, postage, and other minor operating expenses. 3. "Pierce Seniors" agree to maintain documentation of the above expenditures and to seek prior approval from the Area Agency on Aging if it is needed to expend a portion of this grant on expenditures not listed in number(2) above. 4. "Pierce Seniors" understand that terms of this agreement are valid through June 30, 2008.
