Subject: priorities and responsibilities
To: The Weld County Board of Commissioners
<!--[if!supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]-->
Dear Commissioners:
Once again Weld County government has demonstrated its inability to provide even basic services,
during and after the recent snowstorm. The roads in two subdivisions containing over 100 families have
not been plowed, putting them at risk from the possibility that fire and medical assistance could not
reach them. A more egregious example is the failure to plow the Vista Commercial Center, where the
USPS distribution center is located, holding up the mails. Contrast this with the performance of the
Towns of Firestone and Frederick, which kept their arterials open throughout the storm and cleared
streets the next day.
Yet the county commissioners continue to promote the profiting of a few large landowners and
developers by permitting vast increases in residential development, which will only exacerbate the lack
of service capabilities of the county government. This continues the mindless priority that the county
commissioners give to individual profit over the health, safety and welfare of the general population of
Weld citizens.
