The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County
Home-Rule Charter, Monday, January 15, 2007, 6:30 p.m., at Weld County Centennial
Center, 915 10th Street, Greeley, CO.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by President Gene Stille. Vice
President Tom Pettit, Councilwoman Ginny Buczek, Councilman John Kivimaki, and
Councilwoman Nancy Teksten were present to constitute a quorum of the members.
Also present: Bev Thomas, council secretary.
2007 Council President Election
Council President Gene Stille asked for nominations for 2007 Council President.
Councilman John Kivimaki nominated Councilman Tom Pettit for 2007 Council
President. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
2007 Council Vice President Election
Council President Tom Pettit asked for nominations for 2007 Council Vice President.
Councilman Gene Stille nominated Councilwoman Ginny Buczek for 2007 Council Vice
President. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION: Council secretary Bev Thomas gave an overview of
the activities and procedures of the Weld County Council.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Councilman Stille made a motion to approve the agenda as
printed. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Councilman John Kivimaki made a motion to approve the
December 18, 2006 council minutes. The motion was seconded and carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
2007 Weld County Council Meeting Locations
Councilman Stille made a motion to set the 2007 Weld County Council meetings in the
following locations:
April and October at the Southwest County Administration Building in Longmont, CO
July at the Southeast County Administration Building in Ft. Lupton, CO
February, March, May, June, August, September, November, and December at
Weld County Centennial Center in Greeley, CO
The motion was seconded and carried unanimously.

2007 Council Coordinator and Elected Officials
The 2007 Council Coordinator and Elected Officials assignments were made as follows:
Department of Human Services — Council President Tom Pettit
Department of Health Services -Vice President Ginny Buczek
Department of Finance, Central Purchasing, and Personnel - Councilwoman Teksten
Department of Public Works — Councilman John Kivimaki
Department of Planning — Councilman Gene Stille
Assessor— Councilman John Kivimaki
Clerk and Recorder—Vice President Ginny Buczek
Sheriff— Councilman Gene Stifle
2007 Council Review Programs & Meeting Planners
Councilman Kivimaki will gather information about the relationship between Weld
County Library District and Weld County government.
The following assignments were made for council meeting review planners, and
possible meeting speakers and review topics.

Approval of Documentation
Vice President Ginny Buczek made a motion to approve the December 18, 2006 council
minutes. The motion was seconded and carried.
Councilman Gene Stille made a motion to approve the 2006 Fourth Quarter Report to
the People. The motion was seconded and carried.
Councilman Gene Stille made a motion Resolution 161 be adopted setting the dates
and times of the 2007 Weld County Council meetings. The motion was seconded and
carried.
Weld County Elected Officials Meetings
Councilman Stille will talk to County Commissioner Chairman Dave Long regarding
attendance and scheduling of the Weld County Elected Officials Meetings.
Recognition of Former Councilmen Dwaine Kurtz & Chip Marks
Councilman Gene Stille made a motion to order plaques recognizing former Councilmen
Kurtz & Marks for their service as Weld County Council members. The plaques, along
with framed resolutions recognizing their service, will be presented at the February 12,
2007 council meeting. The motion was seconded and carried.
Weld County Council's Rules & Regulations
Councilman Kivimaki made a motion to table discussion of amending the Weld County
Council's Rules and Regulations until the May council meeting, and include County
Attorney Bruce Barker in that discussion. The motion was seconded and carried.
Council secretary Bev Thomas will collate Bruce Barker's legal opinions the council has
received over the years and compile the issues council members believe need to be
addressed in the Weld County Council's Rules and Regulations.
Payment of the Bills
Councilman Gene Stille made a motion to pay the bills as listed:
Mileage for Councilwoman Ginny Buzcek $59.52
Mileage for Councilman Tom Pettit $18.60
Mileage for Councilman Gene Stille $21.39
Mileage for Councilwoman Nancy Teksten $ 5.58
Office Max for Notebook/Binders $19.51

P.S. Trophies— Name Badges $16.00
The motion was seconded and carried.
ADJOURNMENT: President Tom Pettit adjourned the meeting at 9:05 p.m.
