MAY 2007
WHEREAS, the Weld County Healthy Marriage Initiative, Building Healthy Marriages, is a
project of the Weld County Department of Social Services, administered by the Family
Educational Network of Weld County as the local lead agency, and its contracted partners,
Community Mediation Project and United Way of Weld County, and funded by the United
States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families to
strengthen marriages by providing premarital inventories, marriage education workshops,
marriage seminars, marriage enrichment weekends, marriage mentoring seminars, marriage
boosters, financial management workshops, conflict resolution coaching and training, family
advocacy, referral services and employment support to over 900 engaged and married low-
income couples in Weld County, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Healthy Marriage Initiative, Building Healthy Marriages, will
organize and build a county-wide coalition among more than 350 small faith-based and
community organizations to support the healthy marriage initiative for additional engaged and
marriage couples in Weld County.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE KNOWN that the Board of Weld County Commissioners
does hereby proclaim May 2007 as Healthy Marriage Month.
