WELD COUNTY, COLORADO

The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of
Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in
the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, May 23, 2007, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were
present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner David E. Long, Chair
Commissioner William H. Jerke, Pro-Tem
Commissioner William F. Garcia
Commissioner Robert D. Masden
Commissioner Douglas Rademacher
Also present:
County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker
Acting Clerk to the Board, Jennifer VanEgdom
Director of Finance and Administration, Donald D. Warden
MINUTES: Commissioner Masden moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting
of May 21,2007, as printed. Commissioner Rademacher seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.
WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for approval
by the Board in the amount of$375,528.21. Commissioner Rademacher moved to approve the warrants
as presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner Garcia seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
CONSIDER CONTRACT FOR SERVICESANDAUTHORIZECHAIRTO SIGN-OMNI INSTITUTE: Judy
Griego, Director of Social Services, stated the contract has been approved by the Interagency Oversight
Group(I OG)and Island Grove Regional Treatment Center. She stated the contract is part of a grant to be
completed on behalf of the lOG group to administer a survey to local schools in regards to use of alcohol
and drugs among students. She further stated a contract also exists with Island Grove Regional Treatment
Center, in the amount of$147,732.00,and this contract with Omni Institute is in the amount of$13,876.00.
Ms.Griego stated Omni will be reimbursed at a rate of$2.00 per student surveyed through the Healthy Kids
Colorado Survey. In response to Commissioner Rademacher, Ms.Griego stated the survey will be provided
in the Platte Valley, Windsor, Weld Central, Hudson, Lochbuie, and Greeley-Evans School Districts;
however, not every school district within Weld County will be surveyed. Further responding to
Commissioner Rademacher, Ms.Griego stated Saint Vrain School District is not on the list to be surveyed
in Weld County; however, that school district may be surveyed under the Boulder County project. In

response to Commissioner Jerke,Commissioner Rademacher stated there are no services located within
the Longmont area that are similar to Island Grove Regional Treatment Center. Commissioner Masden
stated Saint Vrain School District is the second largest educator of children within Weld County, and in
response, Ms. Griego stated the project is a Statewide effort, and the funding provided for this grant is for
school districts within Weld County. Commissioner Rademacher moved to approve said contract and
authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Jerke, the motion carried unanimously.
Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by
the Acting Clerk to the Board.
There being no further business, this meeting was adjourned at 9:05 a.m.
