Subject: Concerns of uranium mining
It is on public record that the state of Colorado has granted permission to Powertech Company to drill test holes
on various locations at their proposed uranium mining sites. As agricultural enthusiasts, it appears that global
corporations are moving into northern Colorado without a great deal of regard for sustainable agriculture.
As our highly respected and duly elected Weld County Commissioners, any support to protect rural Colorado is
greatly appreciated. Please do not let"Big Business"decimate land values and the lifestyle of Weld County
residents. We no doubt believe in capitalism and its basis of the US economy. However, many unanswered
questions relative to the protection of human health and natural resources are of concern. Please let us know, as
our county representatives, how we can cooperate with you to protect one of the nation's leading agricultural
counties.
Our home is located approximately 300 yards from Section 11, which is proposed as a gravel pit and possible
open pit uranium mine. We have spoken with our realtor, and we are at a financial loss due to the devaluing price
of our home and land. It appears that a selected few will benefit from this project. We hope that you will be the
representative and our voice to speak for us and our community to maintain the value and the lifestyle that we
chose when we moved from Larimer County to Weld County.
We appreciate your time in reading this, and also all of the efforts you have put forth for Weld County residence in
the past and future.
Sincerely,
Brett and Tara Kaysen

Subject: Uranium Mining in Colorado
Supposedly, no company has submitted applications for a radioactive materials license from
the state, an underground injection control permit from the EPA, an environmental
assessment, and a land use permit from Weld County.
This is very interesting since in the last few weeks, they have already started drilling
test holes up on what we locals call Antelope Hill in the Nunn Area to mine uranium.
Why is it people like this get this done so fast, when we common people have to jump
through all kinds of hoops, if we get it done at all? Normally we can only get 1 permit
for 80 acres unless it is subdivided into 35 and 45 acres then we can get two.
If an old mining law allows a foreign company to come in and do this then our laws need to
be changed to protect the American Citizen.
This gives me farther proof that all government and politicians see only the dollar signs
and do not care at all about the voters who elect them, and who the government is supposed
to protect.
We will see the consequences of this on our huge water aquifer and the land for thousands
of years. If this company makes mistakes, it will already be done, and too late to even
try to correct. You people have a lot to be proud of!
Sincerely yours,

Dear Weld County Commissioners,
I am writing this letter to voice my concerns regarding the proposed uranium
mining in Nunn, Colorado. As a Colorado native I am vehemently opposed to
this proposal due to the negative impacts uranium mining will have on our land,
water and health. This project does not protect the interests of local people,
Coloradoans, or anyone likely to be affected by contamination of the Fox Hills
Aquifer. I know that you have the power to shut down the current proposed
mining project. Don't let Powertech or any other company jeopardize Colorado's
environment by mining uranium. I urge you to act quickly and stop the uranium
mining, before the damage is done.
Sincerely,Avv4/.1/4_„c3
