Gentlemen:
In recent months there has been numerous hazardous material
incidents through out our area in Weld County and the nation.
So far we have been extremely lucky that none has been so severe
that a whole town population has suffered.
Lea Ekman, Director, Weld County office of Emergency Management,
has indicated that a grant may be possible for a response team,
training and equipment. I 'm in favor of obtaining such a grant,
as its to late to apply when the incident happens. I feel
the team and training is way over due.
Our department is in full support of the grant.
Sincerely;
///t- •Lu',

Dear Norman:
This is just a short note to thank you for contacting me to
express your thoughts about provisions in the Federal Emergency Manage-
ment Agency (FEMA) reauthorization legislation. It' s good to hear
from you.
As you may know, Representative Boland' s bill to reauthorize
appropriations for FEMA has been approved by House and Senate Com-
mittees and signed into law. I share your concern about the im-
portance of maintaining local emergency management programs and
intend to support efforts in Congress to provide adequate funding
in the future.
It' s helpful to have the benefit of your perspective on legis-
lation before Congress .
Again, Norman, thanks for your letter.
Sincer ,
Gary Ha
