A Message from the Executive Director Dear Residents of the Weld Library District;. It is my pleasure to present to you the Weld Library District's 2006 Annual Report. Working with goals outlined in the Weld Library District Strategic Plan 2006-2008, we sought to deliver high quality services to all residents of the Weld Library District, while prudently managing public funds. 2006 was a banner year for technology. We launched a new web site, ° >i ' €£ www.MyLibrary.us. It has many interactive features, including downloadable audiobooks, AskColorado - 24/7 Reference Service, e-books and blogs. It also provides a gateway to our online catalog, which allows you to search for library materials and manage your library account by renewing materials and placing holds. Ever mindful of the legacy of our founders, we have been working on strengthening our relationships throughout the District - with member libraries, government entities and community partners. During 2006 the Trustees re-organized and implemented geographic areas of representation. This clearly defined the areas that each trustee would represent which helped foster communication and heighten visibility with area residents. Collaborating with the communities in the southwest portion of the District, we completed the planning and design phase for two new libraries: the Erie Community Library and a new Carbon Valley Regional Library to be located in Firestone. Because of the stable 3.249 mill levy coupled with healthy growth in the area, we were able to secure $12 million in Certificates of Participation without asking voters for a tax increase. Groundbreaking was set for early 2007. As we continue our commitment to providing quality library services, I welcome your comments and questions. The Trustees, staff and I look forward to continuing to provide you with library services that meet your needs and exceed your expectations.
