RE: APPROVE USE OF FORFEITED PROPERTY BY THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, by Resolution #902028 dated October 21, 1998, the Board of County
Commissioners named the Weld County Criminal Justice Advisory Committee as the responsible
agency to deal with disposition of forfeited property, and
WHEREAS, Section 2-8-110 of the Weld County Code requires the Sheriff to obtain the
express authorization of the Board of County Commissioners in each and every instance if he
wishes to convert any such property to the use of his office, and
WHEREAS, certain forfeited property, further described in the memorandum, dated
January 15, 2007, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, is requested for use by
the Weld County Sheriff, and
WHEREAS, the Board deems it advisable to allow the Sheriff to convert said forfeited
property to be used as bait vehicles equipped with tracking devices.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Weld County Sheriff be, and hereby is, authorized to convert the
forfeited property described in the memorandum for use as bait vehicles equipped with tracking
devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 22nd day of January, A.D., 2007.

I these vehicle types. Thefts of skid steers and other tractors have been occurring with
increasing regularity over the past year. Some of the equipment has been recovered
Southwest Complex locally. One has been recovered and another has been identified in the Alamosa area
4209 WCR 24 /z and a current investigation with the Colorado State Patrol has linked stolen equipment

devices so its location can be monitored in an attempt to apprehend the parties
responsible for the thefts occurring in Weld County.
