Fourth Avenue Brighton, CO 80601 Dear Commissioners: The Weld County Board of County Commissioners has been notified of a hearing on November 21, 1983 before the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (see enclosed notice) regarding proper drilling and spacing units for production and/or gas from the Codell Formation underlying areas in Adams, Boulder, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld counties. The hearing is to determine if the unit spacing should be changed from 40 acres to 160 acres. The proposed change, in the opinion of the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, would reduce production and work to the economic disadvantage of our citizens who are property owners in the area with mineral rights as well as all of the consumers of natural gas in the area. The change could also adversely impact the assessed value generated by the oil and gas production in the counties impacted by this change. The Weld County Board of County Commissioners will be in attendance at the hearing to oppose the change advocated by the large energy companies. We encourage a representative of your Board to be present to testify against this change also. If you desire more information please do not hesitate to contact one of the undersigned at 356-4000, extension 4200.
