WELD COUNTY COUNCIL
August 18, 2008

The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County
Home Rule Charter, Monday, August 18, 2008, 6:30 p.m., at the Weld County Centennial
Center, 915 10th Street, Greeley, CO.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by President Ginny Buczek. Vice
President John Kivimaki, Councilman Don Mueller and Councilwoman Nancy Teksten
were present, constituting a quorum of the members. Councilman Gene Stille was
excused. Also present was Clayton Holmes, Frankie Hernandez and Karla Ford, Council
Secretary.
AGENDA APPROVAL
Councilwoman Teksten made a motion to approve the agenda. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Mueller and carried.
APPROVAL OF DOCUMENTATION:
July 21, 2008 Minutes
Councilman Kivimaki made a motion to approve the July 21, 2008 minutes. The motion
was seconded by Councilman Mueller and carried.
2008 2nd Quarter Report To The People
Councilman Kivimaki made a motion to approve the 2008 2nd Quarter Report To The
People. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Teksten and it passed with a
unanimous roll call vote.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
County resident Clayton Holmes expressed his concerns regarding a drainage issue with
the county and his property. Mr. Holmes had previously contacted Commissioner Jerke,
David Bauer with Public Works and Pat Persichino, Public Works Director. Most recently,
Mr. Holmes discussed this issue with Councilman Kivmaki, who in turn contacted Public
Works. As of August 18th, Public Works had not contacted Mr. Holmes. Councilman
Kivimaki will send a letter on behalf of the Council to Public Works to help get this matter
resolved
Frank Hernandez, Eaton CO, came to the meeting to introduce himself to the Council and
see how the meetings are run. Mr. Hernandez is running for the At-Large Seat (4 year
term) for the Council.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Budget 2009
The 2009 proposed budget was distributed to Council. Per Don Warden, the Council
does not need to attend a budget session at this time.

NEW BUSINESS:
Salary Setting Information -Commissioners
The Council reviewed salary information from other counties and the previous year's
schedule for Weld County. After discussion, Councilman Kivimak made a motion to
have a resolution prepared to set the commissioner's salary to $83,500 for the year
2011 and $87,300 for the 2012 year. The motion was seconded by Councilman Mueller
and passed with a unanimous roll call vote.
Correspondence — Resolution from Board of County Commissioners
A Resolution regarding the 2009 County Holidays was distributed to the Council.
Correspondence— Emails from R. Liu - REIDEX
Several emails were sent to the Commissioners and Council from R. Liu and the
company REIDEX. Since this does not pertain to the Council, the Council will let the
Commissioner's office handle any response from Weld County.
Upcoming Meetings/Invitations
The Council was reminded of three upcoming meetings/invitations: 9/9 — Elected
Officials Meeting, 9/29 — Elected Officials Quarterly Meeting and 10/16 —Town/County
Dinner.
Payment of the Bills
Councilman Kivimaki made a motion for the bills to be paid as listed below:
Mileage for Council President Ginny Buczek $ 36.16
Mileage for Council Vice President John Kivimaki $ 50.85
Mileage for Councilwoman Nancy Teksten $ 6.30
Johnstown Breeze Subscription Renewal $ 30.00
The motion was seconded by Councilman Mueller and passed with a unanimous roll
call vote.
ADJOURNMENT: By acclamation the meeting was adjourned at 7:25 pm.
