RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AT VARIOUS COUNTY
ROAD INTERSECTIONS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS,the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board
that Stop signs be installed at various County Road intersections, as described in Exhibit A, to
ensure safety to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, a hearing before the Board was held on the 15th day of September, 2008, at
which time the Board deemed it advisable to continue said matter to September 29, 2008, at
9:00 a.m., in order to discuss the intersections within a work session, and
WHEREAS,at said hearing on September 29,2008,after review,the Board has determined
that said traffic control devices are necessary for the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install Stop
signs at the various County Road intersections, as described in updated Exhibit A, for the safety
of the general public, and said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control
Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 29th day of September, A.D., 2008.

REVIEW/WORK SESSION REQUEST
RE: Stop Sign Installations at Various Locations throughout the County
DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC WORKS DATE: August 26, 2008

Brief description of the problem/issue:
Recently, Public Works began inventorying uncontrolled intersections focusing on those intersections in
developing areas where one direction was paved and the other direction graveled. The intersection types
include either a four way intersection or a T-intersection. The goal of the effort was to be pro-active in placing
stop signs at those locations where appropriate and stopping the road of less importance. This process will be
completed over several years as not to impact current budgets. The attached list identifies the intersections that
have or will have stop signs installed as a result of this effort.
What options exist for the Board? (Include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options)
Public Works is requesting the BOCC accept the list of stop sign locations as a whole rather than having an
individual resolution for each location. We are striving to keep our roadways safe and proper sign controls will
help in that effort as well as with the efforts of law enforcement.
Recommendation to the Board:
I am recommending that the BOCC accept placing the enclosed list of signs on the agenda for official adoption.
