The stretch of Weld County Road 13 to which you referred is on a straight gentle slope with a clear view in both directions. The purpose of the double yellow lime is to prevent passing when visibility or road alignment makes it unsafe to do so, which is not the case here. If the County were to put a double line in this location, it would then make it illegal to pass at any time and would leave the County open to criticism for improper road marking practices. . It is our feeling that it would not be appropriate to restrict this section of the road to no passing. We have similar situations on other County roads, where accidents can be avoided only by drivers exercising reasonable caution in passing.
