PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL DAY

Whereas, the United States Congress has designated the week of May
• = 11-17, 2008, to be dedicated as National Police Week, and Thursday, .' \ �s/
. May 15 to be Peace Officers Memorial Day, and

Whereas, law enforcement officers are the guardians of life and property, __•

the defenders of the individual's right to be free and live under a
constitution that allows for these rights to be exercised, who work
/I tirelessly in the fight against crime and other wrongs to society; and .
Whereas it is known that in 2007, every 46 hours, an American law
enforcement officer died in the line of duty somewhere in this great
country, and during this last year, 187 brave men and women have lost
= their lives in the performance of their duties. Our community joins with1/44r \
other cities, towns, and counties to honor all peace officers everywhere 4 ;.

a Now, therefore, be it hereby resolved that the Board of Weld County
. Commissioners, does hereby proclaim the week of May 11-17 to be LawNk;

Be it further resolved that the Board of Weld County Commissioners calls ,r
