RE: APPROVE RESCINDING RESOLUTION#2005-0484, DATED FEBRUARY 9,2005, FOR
ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION OF TWO ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES TO WELD COUNTY
SHERIFF'S OFFICE, BY STATE FARM INSURANCE, INC.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, by Resolution #2005-0484, dated February 9, 2005, the Board approved an
Acceptance of Donation of Two All Terrain Vehicles, on behalf of the Sheriff's Office, from State
Farm Insurance, Inc., and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to rescind Resolution#2005-0484,
dated February 9, 2005, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that Resolution #2005-0484, dated February 9, 2005, for an Acceptance of
Donation of Two All Terrain Vehicles between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and
through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,on behalf of the Sheriff's Office,from
State Farm Insurance, Inc., be, and hereby is, rescinded.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 29th day of October, A.D., 2008.

Subject: Declining Acceptance of ATV Donation Resolution#2005-0484
Board of County Commissioners
On March 1, 2005 resolution#2005-0484 was presented to you for use of ATV's as bait
vehicles to combat ongoing thefts of ATV's in the county.
For the sheriffs Office to use the ATV's,NICB wanted a daily report on how we were using
them and the availability to pull them and reallocate them whenever they decided. The work
to get a couple of banged up ATV's was more costly than what it was worth so we decided to
purchase the one from Franklin Cycle. On behalf of the Sheriffs Office we would like to
resend our request to convert the two ATV's to the Sheriffs Office.

I request permission to convert the following items to Weld County Sheriff's Office use per Weld
County Ordinance#28,Section 11.
1. 2003 Honda Foreman A.T.V. with assigned vehicle identification number
478TE28033A017459.
2. 1995 Kawasaki Wolverine A.T.V. with assigned vehicle identification number
JY44ICBA00SA006222.
The above listed A.T.V.s are going to be used by the Weld County Sheriff's Office as"bait"
vehicles to try and combat the ongoing thefts of these vehicle types. Thefts of A.T.V.s have been
occurring for the last 16 months in the South-East part of the county and to this point only one
has been recovered with losses being in excess of 30 vehicles. The Weld County Sheriff's Office
intends to equip the donated A.T.V.s with tracking devices so that their locations can be
monitored and subsequently placed in the general area that the thefts have been occurring.
State Farm Insurance Inc. is offering to donate the two A.T.V.s listed above in an attempt to help
apprehend the party/s responsible for the thefts occurring within Weld County.
