We understand the bridge was constructed sometime around H 1969 and Weld County has inherited the bridge and associated maintenance from CDOT. We understand that after the asphalt overlay had been removed as part of the maintenance program, severe delamination, which typically indicates corrosion of • c "' reinforcing steel, was evident in the concrete bridge deck. You have requested that we I ' a1 collect samples of the concrete within the bridge deck and perform laboratory testing to • , evaluate the corrosion potential at various depths in the slab. Our scope of work will also include a site visit by our Mr. Jon Doudna, P.E., to observe current conditions of the bridge deck and provide a summary report of his observations and recommendations. r A detailed scope of services (Exhibit A) and fee estimate (Exhibit B) are attached. It r', I should be emphasized that the fee estimate is based on assumptions of technician and engineer time. Our time in the field may vary depending on site constraints and field complications. Our actual fee will be based on the hours charged and laboratory tests k 1;. conducted at the unit rates presented in Exhibit B. We will provide our services in y I accordance with the Agreement for Professional Services dated June 7, 2008 and the ¢ amended Fee Schedule dated June 11, 2008. A representative of CTL will drill several holes in the bridge deck with a hammer drill. We will collect samples of the pulverized concrete from each of the drill holes for water-soluble chloride content testing. We will separate the samples of pulverized concrete collected from 1.5-inch to 2-inch thick increments for testing. We will develop a profile of water-soluble chloride content versus depth for the bridge deck. 2. A representative of CTL will visit the project site to observe current conditions of the bridge deck. We will prepare a letter report summarizing our observations and recommendations regarding corrosion. 3. We will send four copies of our letter report for the bridge deck signed by a professional engineer registered in the State of Colorado. 4. If drilling holes is not effective, we will collect core samples and split the samples for profiling.
