Subject: UPRR yard in Ft. Lupton
Date: Sun, 06 Jan 2008 06:36:56 +0000
Hello to all concerned
Since it seems like it is a done deal on this RR yard going in south of Ft.
Lupton what sort of help or opposition am I able to enforce to protect my
property value and safety. I live right on WCR 29 so this yard affects me
more than most. I am concerned over several items
1. Obviously WCR 29 is to be widened and improved. Does anyone know how
much it is to be widened and if they will take all of the easement I have
facing the road? I have several mature trees and bushes along with gates
and fence that were in place before I moved here 10 years ago. Am I to
assume that all this will be torn out?
2. Since 20% of the yard traffic or nearly 200 trucks a day will drive past
my house along with all the traffic that normally traverses WCR 8, 24 hours
a day. Am I going to have to wear earplugs just to sleep? How about all
the pollution and soot that I will have to breathe? Will I have to sit in
my driveway for 10 minutes until there is an opening for me to get on the
road? And will I then have to sit in traffic at WRC 6 and Highway 85 for
10-20 minutes waiting for the long line of trucks to go through the light?
I have had to wait for the Halliburton convoys and the gravel trucks
already, and that is usually just 3-6 trucks!
3. Since the traffic will obviously increase how am I to get out of my
driveway, which is only about 30' long now? I will have to back out into
the road, not the safest way to enter a busy road. I personally do not want

to get T-boned trying to get to work! My kid will no longer be able to play
in the driveway on his bike nor will it be safe for him to even be in the
front yard. Since I have lived here I have already had 2 cars slide into my
front yard and hit a gatepost. Also what is to be the speed limit for this
stretch of road?
4 . This all means I am going to be stuck living here because no one will
want to live with the same conditions. My property value will plummet and I
will loose year's worth of increased equity.
My other neighbors all think the same. We do not want out homes ruined.
Why are their no county or city officials standing up for the rights of the
residents? I understand the need for progress but would YOU! like to be put
in this situation? This does not seem to be of concern to anyone since it
is not in their backyard. But it is in mine!
This only addresses the issues with the road. What about all the noise,
light, and air pollution from the yard. How about my water well will it be
at risk to be contaminated? Will my property be surrounded by warehouses
and industrial sites?
The meeting you had back in September only generated more concern for this
site. I did not get satisfactory answers from the UP folks there.
Of course this is a gripe of someone who upset about the situation, but
wouldn't you! I have not heard from anyone about what will happen when this
all goes through.
From a law abiding taxpayer who is going to get screwed by Big Money!
