RE: AUTHORIZATION FOR CHAIRMAN TO SIGN TERMINATION OF CONTRACT
WITH WILLIAM W. HANSEN, P.E. CONCERNING HOKESTRA GRAVEL PIT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, a letter was received by the Board of County Com-
missioners from William W. Hansen, P.E. , Water Resources Engineer,
requesting the termination of the contract with Weld County,
Colorado concerning Hokestra Gravel Pit, Plan for Augmentation,
and
WHEREAS, the Board, after reviewing said letter, deems it
advisable and in the best interest of Weld County to terminate
said contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Weld County, Colorado that the Chairman, or in his
absence, the Chairman Pro-Tem be, and hereby is, authorized to
sign the letter requesting the termination of the contract be-
tween William W. Hansen, P.E. and Weld County, Colorado.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 29th day of
December, A.D. , 1982.

RE: Hokestra Gravel Pit - Plan for Augmentation
Scope of Services
Gentlemen:
The purpose of this letter is to indicate my willingness to terminate our con-
tract for professional services if we may do so by mutual consent. The contract
has become somewhat of an anachronism for several reasons, among which are:
1 . The period of performance expired over a year ago.
2. With your verbal consent, I have included services which were not
within the original scope of the agreement, and which by your consent
would increase the total amount of compensation, and
3. I have detected no enthusiasm or encouragement on your part for my
completing the project as originally defined.
In view of the fact that I have been paid in full for services rendered to date,
which have included preparation of a preliminary report and interaction with the
City of Greeley and its Water Board for the purpose of securing a lease of aug-
mentation water, I feel that it would be appropriate at this time to terminate
our present contract in order to simplify our year-end bookkeeping.
I would be pleased to meet with you either next week or as early as possible
next year in order to discuss this matter and to determine your interest in pro-
ceeding further. It is my opinion that a new contract for the balance of the
work would be appropriate, although I recognize that you may wish to proceed as
you have been since the gravel operation seems to be "getting by" without an
augmentation plan decreed by the Water Court. While there may be some advantage
in waiting until the Court requires further action, I am unable to predict how
long this practice may be allowed to continue.

Since I would like to have this matter cleared up by the end of the year, I
would appreciate hearing from you as soon as possible. Receipt of a signed copy
of this letter will indicate to me that you agree with the termination of our
present contract.
