Dear Mr. Ogle:
I am writing on behalf on my client, Weld County, to inform you of Weld County's amendment
application to the DRMS regarding its Hokestra Pit. This site is located adjacent to the Weld
County Service Center just east of Longmont. The site had been a permitted mine site since
1980. The County mines the site intermittently as the demand for road material dictates. The
County is proposing to change the reclamation plan of the site from groundwater lakes to lined
storage reservoirs. This change entails using a clay liner to line reservoir II (see attached figure)
and a slurry wall to line reservoirs III and IV.
The reservoir liner designs will be completed by a registered professional engineer and meet the
State of Colorado criteria for lined gravel storage reservoirs. Weld County requests an update to
its USR and will provide the County with a copy of the approved DRMS amendment when
available. It will also update its USR plat with the County at that time. Please let me know if
