Esther E. Gesick Deputy Clerk to the Board 915 10th Street Greeley, CO 80631 (970) 356-4000 X4226 (970)352-0242 (fax) Original Message From: William Garcia Sent: Friday, January 11, 2008 7:09 AM To: Esther Gesick Subject: FW: TMSM-Spam: Stop Uranium Mining Original Message From: Mike and Marcia Carlson [mailto:carlsonfive@gmail.com] Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2008 5:29 PM To: William Garcia Subject: TMSM-Spam: Stop Uranium Mining I am very concerned about the potentially severe impacts the proposed uranium mine near Nunn, Colorado will have on our land, water, and health. As my representative, I ask that you do everything in your power to stop this project. Michael Carlson 3320 Grenache St Greeley CO 80634 71. 2008-0257 (Y'rvvbt l)i eatte.,q I-I L-o ' PL/F9 9 • 12-27-07 Dave Long, Chairman, Weld County Commissioners Weld County Board of Commissioners RE: Powertech and the proposed uranium mining operation in Weld County Gentlemen: You would not listen to the Weld County citizens about the simple absence of stop signs until someone died at the intersection of Weld County Roads 57 and 72. BUT - you have now installed the stop signs which hopefully will prevent additional deaths at the intersection of WCR 57 and 72 and you also installed a stop sign at WCR 72 and 59. Are you going to listen to the Weld County citizens protesting the proposed uranium mining or are you going to approve it and then when it is too late you will not be able to install a stop sign to stop the extensive groundwater contamination throughout many counties of Colorado and who knows where else? It would be very interesting for the citizens of Weld County to know just what methods Powertech used to obtain the mining rights for all that property. What sort of secret, clandestine, and covert methods did they use? Do what the Fort Collins City Council had the guts to do. Say NO to Powertech and then be brave and stand up to Powertech's attacks and bullying because you will know you did the right thing. Don't be mislead by promises of big money for Weld County. Be like my daughter, Shari Wolfrum. Know you were right, stand behind it, fight against Powertech. Your Weld County citizens and the citizens of northeastern Colorado will be proud of you for not knuckling under to Powertech and letting the groundwater of northeastern Colorado be contaminated for years to come. Big buildings frequently have the names of board members on bronze plaques attached to the building. Would each of you want your names on a large bronze plaque commemorating the contamination of all the groundwater in northeastern Colorado? Think about it. The stop sign might have saved one life. How many lives and how much property can the right decision on this issue save? Sincerely, ?f/,`61'acX— George P.
