RE: ACTION OF BOARD CONCERNING WAIVER OF TEN-DAY WAITING PERIOD FOR
CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF THE 2008 STEEL BID-DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC WORKS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Purchasing has requested waiver of the ten-day waiting
period for the 2008 Steel Bid for the Department of Public Works, Bid Request No. B0800062, due
to the expected cost increase of steel prices, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to waive the ten-day
waiting period for said bid.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the ten-day waiting period for the 2008 Steel Bid for the Department of
Public Works, Bid Request No. B0800062, be, and hereby is, waived.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the low bids from Big R Manufacturing,
DBE Manufacturing, and Norfolk Iron, for various products, be, and hereby are, accepted.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 20th day of February, A.D., 2008.

Attached is a bid tabulation and supporting documents for the 2008 Steel Bid.
The recommendations for award per category are as follows:
Corrugated Metal Pipe
Recommend the low bid submitted by Big R for both round and arch pipe be
approved and awarded.
Corrugated Plastic Pipe
Recommend the low bid submitted by DBE Manufacturing be approved and
awarded.
Structural Plate Pipe
Recommend the sole bid submitted by Big R be approved and awarded.

Recommend the low bid submitted by Norfolk Iron be approved and awarded.
