Dear Greeley City Council and Weld County Commissioners,
I have made my living in Northern Colorado for many
years. Recently, that has become more difficult because of
the restrictive practices of government . I am an
electrician and own my own business . I was granted the bid
to install electrical power for the test wells at the
Centennial mining project, but was initially not granted a
permit to install the wiring. I was not given any valid
reason as to why my permit request was denied. This
project will bring much needed jobs and revenues to a
struggling part of the state.
In addition, we can no longer bury our heads in the
sand and pretend that energy is not a national security
issue. For far too long, we' ve relied on foreign sources
of energy. We have vast reserves of domestic energy, and
it is foolish to not utilize current technologies to reduce
our dependence on foreign countries . We must each do our
part to ensure America becomes energy independent.

Sincerely, 1- al

Dear Commissioners,
I am unable to attend your work session, but I feel it is important for our
community leaders to support domestic energy production. I am deeply
concerned about our nation's dependence on foreign countries for energy. We
have many energy sources available for development within our borders,
including the extraction of uranium to provide nuclear power.
Japan and Europe have been receiving a vast majority of their electrical
power from nuclear energy for decades. Since the 1970's nuclear power has had
an exemplary record of providing safe, clean, efficient energy. It is time America
caught up.
Arguments against nuclear power seem to be based on fears that are
resultant of the initial problems associated with the provision of nuclear power in
the 195os and 196os. As we've seen in the decades since, nuclear power is safe
and efficient. In addition, it does not emit greenhouse gases.
As a nation, we should each do our part to reduce our dependence on
foreign sources of energy. Supporting the provision of nuclear power is our only
currently feasible means of doing so. Alternative energy, although promising, is
not ready to produce an adequate supply. Current technologies make nuclear our
cleanest, safest option.
Thank you,
Michael R. Adams
