RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 8 BETWEEN COUNTY ROAD 23 AND U.S. HIGHWAY 85
FOR TWO ONE -WEEK PERIODS, FOR FINAL CONSTRUCTION PHASE OF PRAIRIE
WATERS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 42-4-410(6)(a), C.R.S.:
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion thereof
for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days for
project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to temporarily close
to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on said County roads by posting
signs thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on County roads
and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic control
devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon for the
safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal Manual
on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that County Road 8, between County Roads 23 and
U.S. Highway 85, be temporarily closed, with said closure being effective June 15, through
June 22, 2009, and July 6, through July 13, 2009, for the Final Construction Phase of the Prairie
Waters Project, and further, that standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at said
closure giving notice of the restrictions.

Gamey Construction is requesting permission to close CR 8 between CR 23 and US 85 for 7days starting June 15, 2009 and
again for 7 days starting July 6, 2009 for the final construction phase of the Prairie Waters project.
CR 8 (gravel with an aadt of 91 vpd)
Detour roads will not need dust mitigation due to low traffic volumes and access to paved routes.
