Gesick Deputy Clerk to the Board 915 10th Street Greeley, CO 80631 (970)356-4000 X4226 (970)352-0242 (fax) Original Message From: Barbara Kirkmeyer Sent: Monday, April 20, 2009 11:09 AM To: Anthony R. espinosa; Sean Conway; William Garcia; Dave Long; Douglas Rademacher; Sean Conway; Bruce Barker Cc: Esther Gesick; Bethany Salzman Subject: RE: Commercial vehicles ase include in the file for the hearing. anks Original Message From: Anthony R. espinosa[mailto:palabrasdehonor@aol.com] Sent: Friday, April 17, 2009 7:39 PM To: Barbara Kirkmeyer; Sean Conway; William Garcia; Dave Long; Douglas Rademacher; Sean Conway Subject: Commercial vehicles I am a property owner, in the village of Wattenberg. As a matter of information, Wattenberg is a village situated in the southern part of Weld County. The village is approximately four (4) blocks by six (5) block. The village is unincorporated and as such does not have a tax base for improvements and repairs. I offer this information for the following reason The honorable Board of County is receiving request to allow commercial vehicle to park and/or to travel within the boundaries of the village. I understand that notice of such request are made available to residents who live within 500 feet of the site where the vehicles in question will be parking. Please note that because of the size of our village whatever happens in the village affect the total population of the village. Another question that should be considered by the honorable board is the traffic of commercial vehicles, semi trailers, gravel truck, semis transporting propane, within or veling through the village. is dialogue between representatives of the village and the governing body of Weld County has been going on for over two (2) years. The only change which has taken place in this time frame is that the traffic traveling through the village has increased and so has the 1 number of commercial vehicle utilizing property within the village has also increased. "I am sure that if you looked you could find donation to help pay for damages to the waterlines" was feedback provided to members of the village, by a member of the Weld ,nty planning staff. n members of the community of Wattenberg expressed their concern, that vibration from t e heavy truck could cause the buried water lines. My personal concern is that a decision to curtain using Wattenberg as traffic lane and/or allowing businesses to the village as a parking lot or repair shop will only come when one of our neighbors loses their life because of these trucks. I understand economic development and growth. There should middle ground where others profit at the expense of what many of us consider to be home. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions and or concerns Respectfully Anthony R. Espinosa 303-960-5586 Why pay full price? WE WOULD LIKE TO VOICE OUR OPINION BY STATETING WE ARE OPPOSED TO THIS PURPOSED PROJECT, WITH THE FACT BEING THAT THIS IS A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND NOT A COMMERCIAL AREA. WHEN THIS COMPANY "ZAPIEN BROTHERS" MOVED INTO THIS AREA, THEY BROUGHT SEMI -TRUCKS, INEXPERIENCE DRIVERS, EARLY AND LATE WORKING HOURS (NOT THE NORM.), DESTRUCTION TO PROPERTY, AND POLLUTION. WE DO NOT WANT TO SEE A REPEAT OF THIS SITUTATION. FURTHERMORE, THERE WERE INCIDENTS WHERE THERE EMPLOYEES (IN THEIR OWN VECHILES) WOULD MAKE THE MISTAKE OF DRIVING IN AND DRIVING OUT RECKLESSLY. THEREFORE, WE WOULD LIKE FOR OUR COMMUNITY TO STAY EXACTLY AS IT IS, A RESIDENTAL AREA. 'k4 1kA(/' I j L 1" - NvE. vt, ti • L-Y7Arr. Post Office Box 1370 Brighton, CO 80601 Subject: Planning Commission hearing May 5, 2009 Dear Joel: DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING SERVICES Greeley Planning Office 918 Tenth Street Greeley, Colorado 80631 WEBSITE: www.co.weld.co.us E-MAIL: kogle@co.weld.co.us PHONE (970) 353-6100, EXT. 3549 FAX (970) 304-6498 In follow-up to our telephone conversation of May 5, 2009, the Department of Planning Services per your direction requested a continuance of this land use case until June 2, 2009. Given your direction seeking the continuance due to decisions within your control, the Department of Planning Services is invoking Chapter 5, Appendix 5-J, subheading number 18 which addresses the Department of Planning Services Land Use Fees. The fee associated with the requested hearing continuance is being imposed, in this instance the fee is five hundred (500.00) and no/100s dollars. This action was taken as the property is currently in violation (ZCV07-01039) due to the storage and operation of a commercial business and equipment storage without first obtaining the necessary land use permits. Payment of this fee is required upon receipt of this letter. Failure to comply will result in additional actions taken by County staff, including yet not limited to, the recording of the Site Specific Development Plan and a Special Review Permit Plat. Also, I am enclosing the five documents prepared for the Planning Commissioners hearing. From the letters received from the adjacent neighbors, there appears to be opposition to your facility being located adjacent to Wattenberg. This is an issue that you should be prepared to address at the public hearings. Should you have additional questions or concerns, please contact me at the office. Thank you. Sincerely, Kim Ogle Planning Services pc: Memorandum May 5, 2009 Land Use Fee Schedule File: USR-1684 EXHIBIT (0 J3 9 Hello
