RE: ACTION OF BOARD CONCERNING WAIVER OF TEN-DAY WAITING PERIOD FOR
CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF THE ELEVATOR UPDATES BID -
DEPARTMENT OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Purchasing has requested waiver of the ten-day waiting
period for Elevator Updates for the Department of Buildings and Grounds, Bid Request
No. B0900106, due to failure to present on the published date, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to waive the ten-day
waiting period for said bid.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the ten-day waiting period for the Elevator Updates for the Department of
Buildings and Grounds, Bid Request No. B0900106 be, and hereby is, waived.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the low bid from Applied Elevator Service,
in the amount of $120,800.00, be, and hereby is, accepted.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 20th day of May, A.D., 2009.

Re: Elevator Updates (up to code) #Bid B0900106
Date: May 11, 2009
As advertised, this bid is to bring the two elevators in the Plaza West building up to code.
There were two options requested. The first was to explore if some type of overlay existed
to bring the elevators to code. The second option was to perform a full modernization.
The first option had only one bidder and does not provide any long term assurances
because aging components aren't replaced. Therefore, the second option is the
recommended.
Buildings and Grounds recommends the low bid from Applied Elevator Service be awarded
the contract to modernize these elevators in the amount of $120,800.00 This work will be
done during the day and not exceed 15 weeks, as per bid.
