After the web site was updated and I could see the value of my neighbors' property, I realized that there were vast differences in the value of similar homes. I have pulled some of the similar homes in our neighborhood — I chose those with similar square footage and acreage, some have additional outbuildings (we do not). I believe that you will find that some of these similar homes are valued at $80,000 less than our home (I have attached the listings and a summary). When our home was last valued it was listed at $415,127 which was high as we had just paid $395,000 for the purchase, but I wasn't going to quibble over $20,000. Now that our value is $30,000 - $90,000 more than similar homes — I plan to argue! Additionally, I have enclosed comparable sales from the June 2008 time period. We would appreciate if you would re-evaluate our valuation based on similar homes in our neighborhood. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 970-674-5456. This hearing will be held at the Weld County Centennial Center, First Floor Hearing Room, 915 10th Street, Greeley, Colorado. You have a right to attend this hearing and present evidence in support of your petition. The Weld County Assessor or his designee will be present.
