RESOLUTION RE: CONSIDER CHANGE IN BOUNDARY LINES OF THE COMMISSIONER DISTRICTS IN WELD COUNTY, COLORADO, AND SET HEARING FOR CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, Section 30-10-306 (2) and (3), C.R.S., and Section 3-2 of the Weld County Home Rule Charter, allow for County Commissioner district boundary lines in Weld County to be revised and altered no more than every two years so as to make such districts as nearly equal in population as possible, with such redistricting only taking place in odd -numbered years and being completed by July 1 of such year, and WHEREAS, the last consideration, determination, and re-establishment of County Commissioners district boundaries by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, was by through Resolution #2007-1773, dated June 25, 2007, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is now of the opinion that the County Commissioner districts do not conform to the proper division of the County with respect to population, and WHEREAS, in order that Weld County complies with the law in every respect, it is desirable, necessary, and in the best interests of the County that the Board of County Commissioners now consider, determine, and re-establish boundary lines of the County Commissioner districts within the County, and WHEREAS, upon notice published in the Greeley Tribune on May 29, 2009, the Board of County Commissioners held a public hearing on June 1, 2009, to determine and re-establish boundary lines of the County Commissioner districts within the County, and WHEREAS, at said hearing, the Board considered three Options, and determined that the division of precincts into the respective County Commissioner districts as listed and shown on the attached Exhibit "A," representing "Option B," is the most desirable and will make the County Commissioner districts nearly equal in populations, and WHEREAS, the Board must formally adopt said Option B by Resolution thirty (30) days after the date of this Resolution, which will be considered on July 1, 2009. 2009-1314 CR0025 RE: CONSIDER CHANGE IN BOUNDARY LINES OF THE COMMISSIONER DISTRICTS IN WELD COUNTY, COLORADO, AND SET HEARING FOR CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE PAGE 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Board hereby determines that the boundary lines of the County Commissioner districts within the County, with the division of precincts into the respective County Commissioner districts as listed and shown on the attached Exhibit "A," detailed as "Option B," appears to be the most desirable and will make the County Commissioner districts nearly equal in populations. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board will consider a formal Resolution to adopt said Option B, as listed and shown on Exhibit A, upon consideration at 9:00 a.m., on July 1, 2009. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 1st day of June, A.D., 2009.
