RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AT INTERSECTION OF
COUNTY ROADS 40 AND 57
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board
that a Stop sign be installed at the intersection of County Roads 40 and 57, to ensure safety to the
traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for
the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install a Stop
sign at the intersection of County Roads 40 and 57, for the safety of the general public, and said
signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 6th day of May, A.D., 2009.

COLORADO SUBJECT: Installation of a Stop Sign at CR 40 & 57
A Request Resolution from the BOCC directing Public Works to install traffic regulatory sign (Stop sign R1-1)
at the intersection of CR 40 and 57. The MUTCD section 26.05 suggests that a stop sign be placed at a street
entering a through highway or street (T intersection) when an intersection is un-signalized in an area that is
signalized. The MUTCD section 2B.05 suggests that a stop sign be placed at a street entering a through
highway or street (T intersection) when sight distance is restricted.
East bound traffic should be stopped at the intersection of WCR 40 & 57 because of sight distance issues
when corn is in the high season and for area consistency.
