The Weld County Council met in regular session in fult conforrhity with the Weld County
Home Rule Charter, Monday, January 19, 2009, 6:30 p.m., at the Weld County
Centennial Center, 915 10th Street, Greeley, CO.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by President Ginny Buczek. Councilman
Vice President John Kivimaki, Councilwoman Perry Buck and Councilman Charles Tucker
were present, constituting a quorum of the members. Councilman Don Mueller was
excused. Also present was Gene Stille, Nancy Teksten, Lee Godfry and Karla Ford,
Council Secretary.
2009 COUNCIL PRESIDENT ELECTION
Council President Buczek asked for nominations for 2009 Council President.
Councilwoman Buck made a motion to nominate Councilman Kivimaki for 2009 Council
President. The motion was seconded by Councilman Tucker and carried unanimously.
2009 COUNCIL VICE PRESIDENT ELECTION
Council President Kivimaki asked for nominations for 2009 Council Vice President.
Councilman Tucker made a motion to nominate Councilwoman Buck to be the 2009
Council Vice President. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Buczek and
carried unanimously.
RECOGNITION OF FORMER COUNCILWOMAN NANCY TEKSTEN AND
COUNCILMAN GENE STILLE: Council President Kivimaki read Council Resolution
173 recognizing Ms. Teksten's service to Weld County. Councilwoman Buck made a
motion to adopt Resolution 173 and Councilwoman Buczek seconded the motion and it
carried. A copy of the adopted resolution and a plaque of appreciation were presented
to Ms. Teksten.
Council President Kivimaki read Council Resolution 174 recognizing Mr. Stille's service
to Weld County. Councilwoman Buczek made a motion to adopt Resolution 174 and
Councilwoman Buck seconded the motion and it carried. A copy of the adopted
resolution and a plaque of appreciation were presented to Mr. Stille.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Councilwoman Buczek made a motion to approve the
December 15, 2008 minutes. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Buck and
carried.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
NEW BUSINESS:
Orientation for New Members
Councilman Kivimaki gave an overview of the Council's responsibilities to the county
residents.

Weld County Council 2009 Budget
Councilman Kivimaki gave a brief overview of the Weld County Council 2009 Budget.
2009 Council Coordinators Assignments
The following Council Coordinator Assignments for 2009 are as follows:
Department of Human Services — Councilwoman Buck
Department of Health Services — Councilman Mueller
Department of Finance, Central Purchasing and Personnel —Councilman Kivimaki
Department of Public Works — Councilman Tucker
Department of Planning — Councilwoman Buczek
2009 Weld County Council Meeting Dates — Resolution 175
Councilwoman Buczek made a motion to adopt Resolution 175 that states the 2009
Weld County Council meetings be held on the third Monday of each month, except in
February 2009 when the meeting will be held on the fourth Monday. The meetings will
be held at 6:30 p.m. The motion was seconded by Councilman Tucker and carried.
2009 Weld County Council Locations
The council will meet at the Weld County Centennial Center, 915 10th Street, Greeley,
Co for its monthly meetings with the following exception: April 20, 2009 which will be
held at the Southwest Weld County Services Complex Building, 4209 WCR 24 %,
Longmont, CO.
2009 Council Review Programs and Meeting Planners
The following assignments were made for council meeting review planners:
Councilman Kivimaki: April — Assessor, June — Human Resources, December —
Commissioner, Chair
Councilman Mueller: May — Health and Wellness
Councilwoman Buczek: August— Planning, October— Coroner's Office
Councilwoman Buck : September — Human Services, November - Open
Councilman Tucker: July — Noxious Weeds & Pests
Upcoming Meetings
The following upcoming meetings were discussed: Elected Officials Meeting and Unity
in the Community Longmont Meeting.
