WELD COUNTY LAW ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
The Weld County Regional Communications Advisory Board met in session in on
Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 10:35 a.m. in the Weld County Law Administration
building.
ROLL CALL:
The meeting was called to order by Rod Deroo. Present were board members Gary
Barbour, Rick Brandt, Rod Deroo, Jay McDonald, Mark Lawley, Juan Cruz, Robert
Standen, Greg Thompson, Phil Tiffany, staff members Mike Savage, Dave Mathis, Susan
Johnson and Peggy Turner
MINUTES:
Gary Barbour moved to approve the minutes of the January 27th meeting; it was seconded
and unanimously approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Staff Report: David Mathis presented Dispatch stats for January 2009 [refer to
Sgt. Mathis' "January 2009 WCRCC Monthly Report and Personnel Report as of
January 2009].
NEW BUSINESS
1. Greeley Fire moving to dedicated primary talk group: Dave Mathis reported
that Greeley Fire had requested and had been granted a dedicated primary talk
group for their agency. This move will benefit the other fire departments by
reducing the amount of traffic on the commonly shared talk group. The move
was approved by CCNC (the state communications network) because the talk
group was a previously unused talk group already controlled by Weld County.
a. Greg Thompson reported that Greeley Fire is dedicated to reduced radio
traffic and to doing most of their commands themselves on the MCTs.
Advanced Wireless will make the changes in mid -March, and that while
they are designing the radio templates they are considering the fact that
they need to communicate easily with other agencies such as Weld County
Paramedic Services.
b. The primary fire dispatcher will manage both talk groups; the second fire
dispatcher will continue to manage the ambulance talk group.
c. The consensus of the group was that this is a good move for Greeley Fire
and it makes sense for them to have a dedicated talk group, however, a
policy may need to be created to address similar requests from other
agencies in the future.

As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:10.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, March, 24, 2009.
