REMARKS: Public Assistance caseloads in August, 1979 did not show remarkable change.
Caseloads nave been vacillating from one month to the next. An increase in the Aid to
Dependent Children caseload one month is offset by a decrease the following month. The
long-term trend compared with the same month prior year indicates a stable pattern in
public assistance caseloads except for Food Stamps, which-have. shown a significant in-
crease due to rule changes.
Expenditures for August (excluding Old Age Pension and Food Stamps) were $593,079. This
amount was $36,945 nigher than the preceding month and $54,693 higher than the same month
in 1978.
Department expenditures remain within budget with 61.5% expended for 8 months of the
calendar year.
