RE: USR-1705 Land Airport
6511 WCR 51
Keenesburg, CO 80643
The following items are addressed here as requested by the Department of Planing Services, Chris Gathman.
Dust Abatement Plan: The ground surfaces used for airport activities are all weather, paved surfaces or covered by
grass. The main runway, taxiway, parking and driveway are asphalt over road base with grass shoulders. The cross -
runway is concrete over road base with grass shoulders. The parking area is all concrete for the airplanes.
The farm equipment work areas are paved concrete, with a gravel out lot (8" crushed concrete road base) for truck and
equipment parking. The only activities that would generate dust would be farm related and not associated with the
airport. If however dust would ever be a problem, a water truck would be used to keep the problem areas moistened as
needed to abate any nuisance, blowing dust condition .
Septic System: The septic system was recently evaluated by a Colorado Registered Professional Engineer and found to
be more than adequate for the anticipated occupant loads and needs for the farm office and the airplane hanger area.
Please see the attached report for specific information.
Waste Handling Plan:
1. Waste generated by airport activities:
a. Incidental paper trash
b. Used motor oil from aircraft oil changes
c. Soiled rags and cleaning towels
2. Chemicals stored on site:
a. Household cleaning products for office, bathrooms in consumer sized containers
b. Windshield cleaners and aircraft polish in consumer sized containers
c. Motor oil in individual quart containers
d. Misc. aircraft lubricants and cleaners in consumer sized containers
e. Fuel in 1000 gallon, above ground, farm tanks.
3. Waste Handlers:
The farm activities generate the majority of the waste, the airport creates as little as 2% of the total.

Sec 31, Township 1 North, Range 65 West
Dear Sir.
At the request of Mr. Lloyd Land, I have been asked to evaluate the existing septic
system for use as an office.
According to the existing permit, there is a 1000 gallon tank, a 800 square foot
trench with a percolation of 10.0 minutes per inch.
Using a rate of 15 gallons/day/day worker, the existing system could accommodate
thirty (30) day workers, assuming day workers only.
For a combination of two (2) day workers (office staff) and visitors (5
gallons/day/visitor), up to qty (80) visitors could be accommodated by the existing
system.
We have used bed, rather than trench, for computations (See Attached
Computations).
If you have

Attached is the information you requested.
The FAA maintains minimal information on private airports, and does not
regulate nor inspect them. It is a requirement of FAR Part 157 (Notice of
Construction, Alteration, Activation, and Deactivation of Airports) to
notify the FAA when establishing, altering, deactivating, or changing the
status of a private or public airport. The Land Airport has complied with
these notification requirements.
It is the owner's responsibility to notify the FAA of changes to the
airport master record (e.g., address, phone number, etc). I have attached
a copy of your latest airport master record. Master records can be viewed
at "www.gcrt.com". Click on airport master records on the left side.
Changes can be reported to this office, or may be solicited by the Airport
Safety Data Branch in Washington, O.C.
It is also your responsibility to keep copies of all FAA determination
letters issued to you by the FAA.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Dear Mr. Land:

Denver Airports District Office
26805 East 68th Ave., Suite 224

An airspace analysis of the proposed addition of a crosswind runway (8126) on the private use Land
Airport, Keenesburg, Colorado, has been completed. Based on this study. the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) has no objection.
Operations should be conducted in accordance with the communications requirements and restrictions of
the overlying class of airspace. We recommend that a clear 20:1 approach slope be established and
maintained.
Please check the performance capabilities of the aircraft you intend to operate at your airport to ensure
you have adequate runway length. All users of the airport should be briefed on operating conditions at
the airport.
This determination does not mean FAA approval or disapproval of the physical development involved in
the proposal. It is a determination with respect to the safe and efficient use of airspace by aircraft and
with respect to the safety of persons and property on the ground. This determination does not relies.c the
proponent of responsibility for compliance with any local law, ordinance or regulations, or state or other
Federal regulations.
In making this determination, the FAA has considered matters such as the effect the proposal would have
on the existing or planned traffic patterns of neighboring airports, the effects it would have on the
existing airspace structure and projected program oldie FAA, the effects it would have on the safety of
persons and property on the ground, and the effects that existing or proposed man-made objects (on file
with the FAA) and known natural objects within the affected area would have on the proposal.
The FAA cannot prevent the construction of structures near an airport. The airport environs can only be
protected through such means as local zoning ordinances or acquisition of property rights. It is up to the
owner to provide for this protection.
No evaluation of the environmental aspects of the proposal was made in reaching this determination.
Therefore, this determination is not to he construed as approval of the proposal from an environmental
standpoint under Public Law 91-190 (National Environmental Policy Act of 1969).
Please update and return the enclosed Airport Master Record form to this office.

The following items are addressed here as requested by the Department of Planing Services, Chris Gathman.
Road Access: No new access from WCR 51 is requested. The existing access for the farm and airport is via an
asphalt paved drive. House 1 is a separate legal address and has an existing gravel driveway which is only used
occasionally for access to an accessory building north of the residence. House 2 is also a separate legal address and
shares the existing wide, paved farm driveway access.
Existing Internal Roads: The existing roads for the farm and airport activities will continue to be used as needed.
No new roadways are anticipated.
Water Quality Feature: The calculations for the required size has been revised as requested and attached to this
letter. The new required size of 46, 893 square feet has been provided by a Water Quality Feature Easement of a
48,000 square foot grassed field which is also noted on the site plan to be a "No Build or Storage Area". An additional
note is added: "Weld County is not responsible for maintenance of drainage related features"

After we spoke on the phone this morning, I found the letter from our office to Weld County dated June
25, 2009 and noticed that it was signed by Joanna Williams of our office. Since Joanna worked on this
previously (and is the supervisor for the Denver Basin area) I am copying Joanna with this email so she
can respond to your request. Joanna is out of the office today, but should be back in next week.
Thank you,
Jeff
