appeals were received, implementation will
take place this spring under the new condi-
tions stated in the new EA. Additional re-
quirements are provided for in this newer
document, such as soil moisture monitoring
and frequency of burning on a particular
piece of ground. I would like to thank all

Wildland Fire Academy moves to Greeley
On January 5, 650 people from federal, state, county and local agencies; fire departments; and private
entities, participated in the Colorado Wildland Fire and Incident Management Academy held at Aims
Community College in Greeley, Colo. Thirty-three classes were conducted that were geared from entry
level to advanced skills in firefighting and incident management. The Academy brought an estimated
$700,000 into the local economy, and drew attendance from 19 states across the country. Wildland fire
training has expanded to include incidents like tornadoes, hurricanes, and terrorist attacks.
Happy Trails

We've heard a rumor circulating that wolves or wolf hybrids are being released
on or near the Pawnee National Grassland. The PNG reports no confirmed
sightings of wolves or wolf hybrids. The Forest Service manages wildlife habi-
tat, while the Colorado Division of Wildlife manages wildlife populations. If
you believe you have spotted a wolf or wolf hybrid on the grassland, please
contact Troy Florian, Colorado Division of Wildlife at (970) 472-4300.

It's the start of another year and the Crow Valley Grazing Association's Annual
meeting was a great way to begin 2009. I regret that I will be out of town for the
Pawnee Association's annual meeting in February, as I was really looking forward to
spending some time with the association members. While Randy and Nehalem will
be able to answer your technical range questions, I am always open to discussing top-
ics involving the resources and management of the Pawnee National Grassland. Feel
free to stop in and visit anytime.
Thanks for reading!
