National Public Health Week
April 6-11, 2009
WHEREAS, National Public Health Week provides the
focused opportunity for the public to learn about public
health success stories including the reduction in childhood
blood lead levels, the decline in tooth decay due to
fluoridated community water supplies, as well as
immunizing populations against infectious disease; and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Health
effectively collaborates with local agencies and individual
citizens to inform, educate and empower people about
health behaviors including better nutrition, physical activity,
and tobacco cessation; and
WHEREAS, the residents of Weld County benefit every day
from the efforts of the public health workforce when eating at
restaurants, drinking water, and breathing clean air; and
WHEREAS, the theme of National Public Health Week 2009
is "Building the Foundation for a Healthy America;"
encompasses our goals as a nation to ensure that our
homes, neighborhoods, and communities are places all of
us, especially children, can thrive:
NOW, THEREFORE, we do hereby proclaim April 6 through
April 11, 2009, as National Public Health Week in the County
of Weld.
