The recommendations for award per category are as follows: Corrugated Metal Pipe Recommend the low bid submitted by Big R for both round and arch pipe be approved and awarded. Corrugated Plastic Pipe Recommend awarding the 12" to 24" plastic pipe to the lowest bidder, DBE Manufacturing and the 30" to 48" plastic pipe to the lowest bidder, Contech. DBE Manufacturing is a local vendor and has provided materials with excellent service and on -time commitment. We have not purchased pipe through Contech and would like to test their product throughout the year. Structural Plate Pipe No bids were received for this item. MISCELLANEOUS STEEL PRODUCTS Beam Sections Recommend the sole bid submitted by PDM Steel be approved and awarded. Steel Piling Recommend the second low bid from DBE Manufacturing be accepted. This is a local vendor and prices for all items were less than $1.00 above the lowest bidder, JD Fields. Steel Angles, Tubing, Black Pipe, and Flat Plate Recommend the bid submitted by PDM Steel be approved and awarded for all steel angles, tubing, black pipe, and flat plate with the exception of the 6"x6"x5/8"x40' angle. DBE Manufacturing was the low bidder for the 6"x6"x5/8"x40' angle and we recommend they be awarded the bid for this item. Channel Iron Recommend the sole bid submitted by DBE Manufacturing be approved and awarded. Fabricated Guard Rail Post Recommend the sole bid submitted by DBE Manufacturing be approved and awarded. We are asking the board of commissioners to consider accepting the H -piling bid from DBE Manufacturing & Supply. Our bid is less than 2% high which, based on past years' usage, would amount to approximately $1,700.00. DBE is a Weld County based and owned company. The property taxes we pay to Weld County are in excess of $25,000.00, between our business, personal, and employees, who all live in Weld County with the exception of one. We also ask you to consider awarding the HDPE pipe to DBE based on the following: Our quote is for products the Weld County bid specifically asks for and for what the county has used from DBE over the past six years. Our HDPE will match and couple with the 30+ pieces Weld County currently has in stock, where the other pipe will not match, and requires additional handling and installation procedures. Our quote is less than the others for the sizes Weld County primarily uses. Our records show that for the past six years we have furnished only 180' of 36", no 48", and until December 2008, only 120' of 30". In December 2008, DBE, along with ADS/Hancor, reduced the annual bid price by 15% due to our prices being lowered by the oil price reductions. This saved Weld County $16,805.00 on a recent project. DBE also cuts the pipe to supply what is needed, which minimizes the county's excess pipe remnants. We appreciate the positive business partnership between Weld County and DBE. In 2002, personnel from Weld County encouraged and contributed to our decision to open DBE Manufacturing & Supply. From the first bid in 2003 through the present, our competitive pricing has helped lower Weld County's cost for the annual bid each year. We have been and will continue to be grateful for the business opportunities we have with Weld County. DBE has always kept Weld County's business interest in mind by eliminating unnecessary cost, delivering quality products, and providing excellent customer service. We would normally not ask for this type of consideration, but based on the current economic stress, Weld County's business is critical to our ability to survive during these difficult times.
