December 15, 2008
For twenty-two years, Frank's Ride for Children has raised money for children in
Colorado. Since 1995, $400,000 has been raised for the Colorado chapter of the
Make-A-Wish Foundation®,which grants wishes to children with life-threatening
medical conditions. As one of the foundation's largest annual fundraisers, Frank's
Ride for Children is responsible for granting over 83 wishes and bringing smiles to
thousands of faces! You see, the power of a wish affects more than just a wish
child.
There is nothing like the power of a wish. A wish is so much more than the dream
of one child. It's a child learning that life is more than pain and disappointments-
and that strangers don't always come with needles. It is business and community
people working together cohesively. It's the opportunity for a family to build
lasting memories and refocus their attention from the illness to the wish. "It gets
the whole family out of the hospital" as one wish father told me.
For me . . . . It's the hair on my arms standing up in amazement for what strangers
can accomplish when their sights are set on the same goal. It's the magic that
happens when people unselfishly move heaven and earth to bring a moment of
joy to a child struggling with an illness. A single wish can touch hundreds of
peoples' hearts and spirits. There is nothing like the power of a wish!
I've seen this power take over everyone involved in Frank's Ride for Children!
From wish children and their families, to community leaders and businesses, to
hundreds of volunteers and ride participants each year.
The foundation is very proud to be associated with Frank's Ride for Children and is
truly grateful for their annual support!
Sincerely,
Patti Murphy
