Most of the days are pretty straight forward; however, because several of the holidays fall on the weekend, two of the floating holidays result in dates that may seem somewhat extended from the actual holiday. I request your approval of allowing the use of Columbus Day on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2009, to address one of them. The second floating holiday creates an interesting situation this year. It could be celebrated on Thursday, December 31, 2009, in conjunction with New Year's (2010); however, this will result in 12 employee holidays in 2009. Alternately, it could be celebrated on Thursday, December 31, 2010, in conjunction with New Year's (2011), which results in the same situation of 12 employee holidays in 2010, and only 10 in 2011. Either way the situation is the same where one year will have 12 calendar days off and the other year will only have 10. Please let me know which New Year's holiday is preferred, or if you have any recommended changes.
