I am writing in response to the card we received regarding the above listed case for
proposed dry mining of construction materials in an Ag Zoned District.
We are wholly against this project in any form or fashion. First of all there already is a
construction material site on CR 94. We get the large trucks and trailers that roar down
our roads at 60+ mph running back & forth with their loads all day long. Many times
I've counted over 25 trucks just on our county road alone. They stir up more dust and
tear up the road so bad it tears up a person's vehicle. Secondly, we're tired of Nunn
being the step child to any an all purposes, for instance, SuperSlab, Uranium Mining and
now you want to put another strip miner in to stir up more dust and dirt. Next you'll want
to dump the nuclear waste out here as well. Why is it Greeley thinks Nunn should be
their scapegoat? If it's something you wouldn't want in your back yard, someone must
jump up and say "Let's put it in Nunn!" We can't sell our home because of the Uranium
mining project & people are fearful of their water being contaminated. Now I have to
contend with a dirt and dust bowl in my back yard?
If it takes a petition to get this ceased, then we'll have to get that in the works. We will
go to whatever lengths we need to in order to keep it out of our "yard".
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Michael & Sue Jon

RE: Open pit mining permit hearing on Dec 16 at 10 a.m.
The applicant for this case is the Weld County Department of Public Works. I have not personally reviewed the details of
the case file, but my basic understanding is that the Department is requesting a mining permit for the purposes of dry
mining, which normally includes the extraction of gravel/aggregate material. The Department of Public Works operates
several dry mines throughout the County, and the extracted materials are utilized in conjunction with road construction
projects.
I have forwarded your e-mail to Mr. Kim Ogle, so that he may contact you and answer any additional questions you may
have.

Jenny VanEgdom and Weld County Planner Ogle --
Thank you, Jenny, for keeping me on the list of people who receive the Weld County Commissioners' Agenda.
I note that on the agenda for Nov 18, 2009, there is a date scheduled for a hearing on a use by special review permit
#1716 set for December 16 at 10 A.M. for "open pit mining," North Pierce pit, and for processing of construction materials
in the area north of WCR 96 and west of WCR 37. Mr/Ms Ogle is listed as the Planner. This matter is listed as Docket
#2009-78, PL 2037.
Since this location is in the area of the proposed Powertech Uranium Mining operations, I'm wondering if you or Mr. Ogle
is at liberty to tell me if Powertech Uranium Corp is the applicant for such a permit. I'm assuming this is part of the public
record.
In any event, would you ask Mr. Ogle to call me at 970-324-1909 or email me at di(actos.com so that we might better
understand this application.
Thank you so much for your attention to this matter.
