Dear Sir:
We are writing in reference to a Safer Off-System roads project that has not
made substantial progress toward construction. Specifically, we refer to project
SOS 0003(5) described as Weld County Road 27 and Bridge 27/62B. The funds for
this project were approved May 1 , 1978. Our records indicate that as of March
20, 1979, the first step--development of preliminary specifications and engineer-
ing plans has not been completed.
These funds, according to the law and regulations governing the program, may not
remain idle indefinitely. Unless progress is made, the assignment of these funds
to your community may have to be withdrawn. The Special Highway Committee has
asked for a status report on these projects to determine if these funds will be
used in a timely manner.
The purpose of this letter is to advise you of this possible lapse of funds and
determine if you still plan to proceed with this project. Please advise us on
the following points:
(1 ) Do you still plan to carry out this project?
(2) If yes, by what date do you anticipate having engineering plans completed?
(3) If engineering plans have been prepared, when will the project be submitted
to the highway department? If it is a force account project, how soon will
construction commence?
If we do not hear from you by June 15, 1979, we will assume that you no longer
intend to complete this project. Accordingly, funds may be withdrawn and placed
in a statewide pool for future reassignment.
If there are any questions on this matter, please contact Alex Brown at the Colorado
Municipal League, 421-8630, or Dan Johnson, Colorado Counties, Inc. at 861-4076.
Sincerely,
 _ Mc 790772
