RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AT INTERSECTION OF
COUNTY ROADS 55 AND 76
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board
that Stop signs be installed on County Road 55 at County Road 76, and on County Road 76 at
County Road 55, to ensure safety to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for
the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install Stop
signs on County Road 55 at County Road 76, and on County Road 76 at County Road 55, for the
safety of the general public, and said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic
Control Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 9th day of September, A.D., 2009.

SUBJECT: Installation of Stop Signs at CR 55 & 76
A Request Resolution from the BOCC directing Public Works to install traffic regulatory signs (Stop sign R1-1)
at the intersection of CR 55 and 76. The MUTCD section 2B.05 suggests that stop signs should be placed at
Intersection of a less important road with a main road when application of the normal right-of-way rule would
not be expected to provide reasonable compliance with the law.
East and West bound traffic should be stopped on WCR 76 as the roadway intersects WCR 55. There are
sight distance issues at this intersection due to rolling hills and vegetation in the area.
