ROLL CALL: (Lacking a quorum, the meeting was an informal discussion among the members present, facilitated by acting chair Kim Fliethman.) Present were board members Kim Fliethman, Rod Deroo, Juan Cruz, Gary Barbour, Carl Harvey, Ron Grannis and Jay McDonald. Staff members present were Mike Savage, Robert Olsen, and Susan Johnson. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Staff Report: Mike Savage presented Dispatch stats for June 2009 [refer to Sgt. Mathis' "June 2009 WCRCC Monthly Report and Personnel Report as of June 2009]. NEW BUSINESS 1. Emergency Mass Notifications: Mike Savage advised that the E-911 board has agreed to use Intrado for mass notifications in Weld County, and that the only delay has been waiting for possible grant money to help with the cost. Since some members of the Weld Emergency Community may not be aware of the exact features included, he will draft a follow up letter informing everyone what services Intrado will provide. He also stated the need for individual communities in Weld County with other notification systems to coordinate with the communications center on emergency messages. Concerns include: • Competition for the phone infrastructure during emergency, tying up the phone system with emergency messages from both the Communications center and the individual community notification system • Conflicting messages going out to citizens, one entity giving different directions than the other • The community launch may result in numerous 911 calls into the Center, and the Center not being aware an emergency message had been sent To resolve these and other potential issues, an Ad Hoc Committee will be formed to develop recommendations concerning emergency notifications between the Center and individual communities. In the meantime, the Communications center will try to subscribe to the message boards provided by individual communities to be aware of any emergency messages going out at this point. As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:05. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, August 25`h, 2009.
